       ‘T.R. Hovey’ Papaya (Dwarf) will set fruit if environmental conditions are favorable. The plant is a perennial in tropical zones. In less hardy zones this plant should be planted in the spring as an annual. It will begin to flower at about 2.5-3 feet or 8-10 weeks after planting. The fruit ripens 6 to 8 weeks after set. The fruit is pear shaped and has yellow skin with a reddish orange flesh color. The estimated time from planting T.C. plug to first ripe fruit is 5 months.
